heaven will unravel from the sky
and fall behind us.

by the time we turn around
a cloud would have recovered from its loss,
waiting for us
to look up for salvation.

sometimes pollution gets in the way
when a thousand echoes unfold with sound
and a hollow blue
returns them silent.

we'll rebuild the sky
through second-hand smoke
and choke on the dust
of our self-importance
then bask in the fantastic turn of events
and shield our eyes from sin.

but that's when heaven falls again.
spiraling out from a spot in the sun
and quietly slipping behind us.

to find us always looking back
to free our future
to the stars.
